Bob Krist Defends Mail-in Voting, Takes On Opponents in Nebraska Secretary of State Race

Should Nebraska change its election system, or protect what’s working?

Former State Senator Bob Krist joins The Dan Parsons Show to make his case for secretary of state as the America First Party candidate.
We watch Krist’s new campaign commercial and ask him about its sharp contrasts with Republican Scott Petersen and Democrat Sarah Slattery. Krist defends Nebraska’s election system, opposes restrictions on mail-in voting and discusses potentially expanding the option for more counties to conduct elections entirely by mail.

We also discuss:• His concerns about hand counting ballots and the cost to counties.• How his military service and legislative experience would guide his leadership.• His support for open primaries.• His political journey through multiple parties.• His willingness to debate Petersen.

With November 3 approaching, hear how Krist would approach the responsibility of overseeing Nebraska’s elections.

New Ad Targets Pillen’s $2.5M No-Bid Contract | Could Lindstrom Change the Race?

Oct 22, 2026 |

A cartoon governor, a luxury jet, and a $2.5 million no-bid state contract.

On this edition of Campaign Spot, Dan Parsons reviews “Jet Setting on Your Dime,” a new America First Party commercial targeting Governor Jim Pillen and the controversy surrounding a state contract awarded to Julie Bushell’s company.

What does the ad say about access, influence and taxpayer accountability? And could Brett Lindstrom’s candidacy change the outcome of Nebraska’s governor’s race?

Lindstrom, a former Republican who challenged Pillen in the 2022 GOP primary, gives voters another choice alongside Pillen and Democrat Lynne Walz. Dan examines whose support Lindstrom might attract, and why that matters heading into November 3.

The commercial is paid for by the America First Party and authorized by Lindstrom for Nebraska.

Who do you think Lindstrom’s candidacy helps, and who does it hurt? Share your thoughts in the comments.
