President Donald Trump is coming to Grand Island, Nebraska — and The Dan Parsons Show will be LIVE Monday at 5:30 PM with coverage and analysis.
Why Nebraska? Why now? What does Trump’s visit mean for the Ricketts–Osborn Senate race, the Pillen–Walz governor’s race and the final weeks before Election Day?
A cartoon governor, a luxury jet, and a $2.5 million no-bid state contract.
On this edition of Campaign Spot, Dan Parsons reviews “Jet Setting on Your Dime,” a new America First Party commercial targeting Governor Jim Pillen and the controversy surrounding a state contract awarded to Julie Bushell’s company.
What does the ad say about access, influence and taxpayer accountability? And could Brett Lindstrom’s candidacy change the outcome of Nebraska’s governor’s race?
Lindstrom, a former Republican who challenged Pillen in the 2022 GOP primary, gives voters another choice alongside Pillen and Democrat Lynne Walz. Dan examines whose support Lindstrom might attract, and why that matters heading into November 3.
The commercial is paid for by the America First Party and authorized by Lindstrom for Nebraska.
Who do you think Lindstrom’s candidacy helps, and who does it hurt? Share your thoughts in the comments.

$1 million and a 50-year wait for public records? Attorney Daniel Gutman explains why he believes a Nebraska Supreme Court ruling in the Flatwater Free Press case provides a path to challenge DHHS’s estimate, and requires the agency to justify its numbers.

Curt Safranek wanted answers about Nebraska’s developmental disability services. DHHS responded to his public records request with an estimate of nearly $1 million—and a completion date in 2076.
Even after he narrowed the request, the estimate remained nearly half a million dollars, with a 25-year wait.
Safranek and his attorney, Daniel Gutman, join Dan Parsons to discuss the lawsuit, the services Curt’s 24-year-old son Will depends on, and why families are demanding transparency.
The records concern communications surrounding a proposed $420,000 consulting contract to review Nebraska’s controversial interRAI assessment system. Safranek explains his concerns about the review’s independence, while Gutman outlines their challenge to the state’s cost and time estimates.
What does accountability look like—and what happens to families while they wait?
